Police: Woman did everything right in road rage incident

Wichita police say a woman did the right thing during a road rage situation where another motorist showed a handgun.

Sgt. Nikki Woodrow gave this account: A 48-year-old woman was driving south on the Kansas Turnpike at about 8:20 a.m. Friday when a small, red vehicle came from behind. The other driver was honking and tailgating for no clear reason. As the driver passed her, he showed a black handgun. She slowed and let him pass, got his tag number and called 911. He exited at Kellogg, and police weren’t able to find him.

The tag number indicates it was rental car, and there is an ongoing investigation to determine who was driving, Woodrow said.

“She did everything right,” by getting his tag number, moving over and not engaging the man with the gun, Woodrow said.
