Word of advice: Don’t swing your skateboard at police
A 25-year-old man was arrested after swinging a wooden skateboard at two police officers on horseback early Saturday, Wichita police Sgt. Wendell Nicholson said.
The two officers were responding to a disturbance in the 900 block of East Douglas in Old Town, Nicholson said, and when they moved toward a man who was attempting to interfere with the arrest of suspects from the disturbance, the man started to swing the skateboard at them, he said.
Neither the officers nor the horses were touched, Nicholson said, and the man was taken into custody and booked on two counts of suspicion of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer.
