A 26-year-old Wichita man has been charged with a felony in connection with a fatal collision with a pedestrian earlier this month.

Dreu Wikle was charged in Sedgwick County District Court with leaving the scene of an accident, Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Dan Dillon said in a prepared statement.

Authorities say a pickup driven by Wikle on 87th Street near Haysville on the evening of May 12 struck Grant Burris, 31, from behind while Burris was walking west on the north side of 87th.

Wikle never stopped his vehicle. Burris, a Marine who served four tours in Afghanistan, died on Monday from his injuries.

Judge Jeffrey Goering set Wikle’s preliminary hearing for June 16.
