3 suspects in custody after bank robbery in south Wichita
Three suspects were arrested after a bank robbery and subsequent police chase Friday, authorities said.
A Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor gave this account:
A man attempted to rob the Fidelity Bank branch at 31st and Seneca at about 11:13 a.m., but he left without going inside the bank.
A bank robbery was reported at the Intrust Bank branch inside the Dillons at Broadway and 47th Street South at about 11:30 a.m., the dispatch supervisor said. A police officer responding to the report of a robbery spotted the vehicle linked to the Intrust robbery, and a chase began.
The suspects bailed from the vehicle southeast of Pawnee and I-135. One was apprehended in the area of George Washington Boulevard and Menlo Street. The second suspect was caught a short time later, and the third was arrested shortly after 12:15 p.m.
It’s unclear whether the attempted robbery of Fidelity and the robbery of the Intrust branch are connected, the supervisor said.
