Kingman man convicted of second-degree murder in 2014 shooting death

A Kingman County jury on Thursday convicted a man of second-degree murder in connection with the death of another man in 2014, according to a news release from Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office.

David Michael Younger, 52, of Kingman, will be sentenced July 5, the release said. Younger was arrested and charged with killing 62-year-old Danny R. Ely of Kingman, who was found dead Dec. 15, 2014, after authorities responded to a suspicious death call.

“The evidence at trial showed the victim died of a gunshot wound to the head,” Jennifer Rapp, a spokeswoman for Schmidt, said by e-mail.

Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case with Kingman County Attorney Matt Ricke. Kingman County District Court Judge Frances E. Meisenheimer presided over Younger’s trial, the release said.
