Wichita police say a man was approached by another man holding a knife during an argument Friday morning at a Quik Trip in the 2800 block of South Hydraulic.

Sgt. Joe Kennedy said the 38-year-old’s vehicle was nearly hit by a Ford van when he pulled into the convenience store parking lot at around 11:30 a.m. Kennedy said when the 38-year-old yelled at the van, it stopped and the passenger – a man who appeared to be in his 20s – got out. The passenger approached with a knife, and a verbal argument ensued, he said.

After the exchange of words, the passenger went back to the van and it left. The 38-year-old was not injured or threatened directly with the knife, Kennedy said.

The case is being investigated as an aggravated assault, Kennedy said. Police are looking for the van’s passenger.
