Saturation patrol nets numerous citations, but no DUIs in Wichita

A DUI saturation patrol by Wichita police last weekend didn’t net a single DUI arrest.

The four-hour patrol in west Wichita last Friday night and early Saturday resulted in 28 traffic stops and numerous citations, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said. Those citations included nine turn violations, one lane violation, five citations for defective equipment, two seat belt violations and one speeding ticket.

There were also eight warnings issued for defective equipment. Three officers and one supervisor were involved in the special patrol, which was paid for by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
