Suspect in sexual battery at East High jailed
The man Wichita police have identified as a person of interest in a case of sexual battery in an East High bathroom in September was booked into jail on Wednesday morning.
According to jail records, Guy D. Harris, 28, is being held on suspicion of multiple charges, including sexual battery, criminal discharge of a firearm, interference with law enforcement, a probation violation and 15 driving-related charges.
Harris was booked into jail shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to jail records.
Harris is being held on a $65,000 bond.
In the Sept. 9 incident at East High, an 18-year-old student told administrators a stranger approached her in the school, asking where the gym was, police have said. Harris allegedly followed the student into a bathroom and sexually battered her as she attempted to return to the hall, police have said.
It prompted stricter security measures on East’s campus, near Douglas and Grove.
