Wichita police are looking for a man who reportedly demanded money at gunpoint from a woman pumping gas outside of an southeast Wichita Kwik Shop on Monday afternoon.

The woman, 53, was filling up her vehicle when a gray, newer model Chevy Malibu pulled alongside her and the front-seat passenger pointed a gun at her through the window at around 1:15 p.m., Wichita police spokesman Lt. James Espinoza said. The woman refused to hand over her purse and ran into the gas station, 2750 S. Oliver, for help.

The woman told police the would-be robber was white, in his mid-20s, had short brown hair and was wearing a white T-shirt, Espinoza said.

No one was hurt and nothing was stolen, according to a police report. The car fled northbound on Oliver, Espinoza said.

"I believe it’s an isolated incident right now," Espinoza said. The suspect remains at large.
