Arrest made in Wichita’s latest homicide
Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old Wichitan in connection with the city’s latest homicide.
Wichita police arrested Arturo Jesus Desantiago shortly after noon Friday in connection with the killing of 19-year-old Samuel Meza, who was shot in the hip March 21 in the 2600 block of North Waco following a long-running gang feud. Meza died two days later at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis.
The feud had been ongoing for three years, police said last week. The altercation started with a verbal clash in the 2400 block of North Jackson at around 7 p.m. then culminated with the shooting about an hour later at the Waco address. One shot was fired, police have said.
Desantiago was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to online booking records. He is being held on $350,000 bond.
Formal charges are pending.
