Wichita police respond to reports of two shootings late Saturday

The Wichita Eagle

Wichita police responded to reports of a pair of shootings late Saturday; no injuries were reported from either incident.

Sgt. Joe Kennedy said both calls came in just before midnight. Police responded to the first call after a report of a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting on I-135 in south Wichita.

Kennedy said a 24-year-old man reported that another man in a gray Infiniti sedan pulled alongside his vehicle, which was traveling south on I-135 near the Southeast Boulevard exit, and began firing shots at it, causing an unknown amount of damage.

The victim reported that the Infiniti then exited on Hydraulic before crashing into another car and continuing to travel west. Kennedy said the victim told police he did not know who the shooter was.

Also just before midnight, police responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 2200 block of North Arkansas. Kennedy said a 32-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman reported they heard gunshots outside a residence they were both in before later noticing damage to the outside of the dwelling.

A description of the potential suspect or suspects was not provided, Kennedy said.
