Authorities are looking for an inmate who escaped from the minimum-security prison in Winfield overnight.

Bradley Wayne Struble, 37, was last seen just before midnight Wednesday during the prison’s inmate count, the Kansas Department of Corrections said in a news release. The prison is a minimum-security facility. Inmates are supervised and expected to stay on site, but the grounds are not fenced in, corrections department spokesman Adam Pfannenstiel said.

The Winfield Special Operations and Response Team is searching for Struble in areas in Cowley County with the help of local law enforcement. He remained at large Thursday.

Struble is serving a sentence for violating parole, the department of corrections said. His most recent criminal conviction, for battering a correctional officer, was in 2004. He also has convictions for aggravated burglary, robbery, criminal damage to property, theft and misdemeanor battery, corrections records show.

Struble was sent to Winfield Correctional Facility on Feb. 8. He was due to be released in October.
