Man arrested after women in central Wichita threatened with knife

Officers arrested a man after two women in central Wichita reported being threatened in separate incidents by a suspect with a knife, police said Friday.

In the first incident, around 11 a.m. on Thursday, a woman reported that a man forced her to slow down by walking into the street as she was driving near Ninth and Broadway. He approached the passenger side, showed a knife, cussed at her and threatened to kill her, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said. She drove off and called 911.

About 10 minutes later, a woman with her 13-year-old daughter in the 1000 block of North Emporia reported that a man was yelling and cussing at her, and when she told him he needed to be careful about what he was saying, he pulled out a large knife and threatened to hurt her in front of her daughter, Espinoza said.

Officers found a man in the 900 block of North Santa Fe, and he was booked into jail on two counts of aggravated assault.
