Wichita police search for teenage Hutchinson couple who robbed woman

Wichita police are investigating a robbery of a 23-year-old Hutchinson woman who offered a teenage couple a ride to Wichita.

At 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Wichita police were called to a parking lot in the 1300 block of South Topeka. The 23-year-old woman told police she gave a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl a ride from Hutchinson to Wichita, according to Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza.

The woman said that the 15-year-old told her to pull into the parking lot on South Topeka and as soon as she did, he pulled out a handgun and began to threaten her for money, Espinoza said.

The woman gave the teen $460, she said. The two teens than ran northeast from the vehicle and have not yet been apprehended, police said.
