Argument preceded fatal shooting Thursday, police say

Police are looking for a man and a woman in connection with a deadly shooting Thursday night.

A 35-year-old man was shot shortly before 9:45 pm. inside his residence in the 1700 block of South Roanoke, near Harry and Edgemoor, Lt. Todd Ojile said.

“He made it outside before collapsing” in the front yard, Ojile said.

A roommate called 911. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:06 p.m., according to a police report on the case. His name is being withheld pending the notification of relatives.

Investigators learned an argument preceded the shooting, Ojile said, though it’s not clear what caused the dispute. Authorities are looking for a red Dodge four-door full-sized pickup with an Oklahoma tag.

Police think a man and woman who knew the victim are in the pickup.

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to call 911, Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or the homicide section of the Police Department at 316-268-4182.

This was Wichita’s sixth homicide of the year.
