Teens arrested after taking $1,500 worth of makeup
Two teenagers were arrested after they walked out of a J.C. Penney store without paying for makeup Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The boy and girl, both 13, had concealed 55 items of makeup taken from Sephora’s inside the Penney at Towne East, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said. The total value of the merchandize exceeded $1,500.
The boy had close to $1,000 worth of makeup in his possession, Espinoza said, while the girl had slightly more than $500 worth. They passed all the cash registers and left the store before being detained by store security at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police were then called.
