Wichita police: Man arrested, accused of raping 6-year-old girl
A 32-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, accused of raping a 6-year-old girl three years ago.
The girl told someone the suspect, identified in multiple records as Steven Charles Church, performed “sexual acts” on her, a police report on the incident stated. Investigators have determined it occurred in late 2012 or early 2013, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said.
Church was arrested Tuesday after questioning and booked into jail on suspicion of rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child, records show. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
The reported assault occurred at the child’s home near Harry and Woodlawn, Espinoza said. The victim and suspect are not related, he said.
