Police investigate fatal shooting near Central and Hillside

Wichita police are investigating a fatal shooting Sunday morning near Central and Hillside.

Police received a report at about 5 a.m. of shots fired in the 600 block of North Erie, according to a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher, and one person is dead.

“Officers arrived and located a 26-year-old victim who was lying in the street who was pronounced dead on scene by EMS,” said Sgt. Joe Kennedy, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. The victim was male, he said.

Police may give more details at a media briefing later Monday.
