Car leaves road, hits porches and other vehicles

Police are looking for a man who ran from the scene after the car he was driving hit a curb, hit two porches and then skidded into parked cars early Friday morning.

The red Pontiac Vibe was traveling west on Lincoln shortly after midnight at “a high rate of speed” when it hit a curb at Lincoln and Greenwood and left the street, Wichita police Capt. Doug Nolte said. The car then hit porches at 1201 S. Greenwood and 1505 E. Lincoln, which are next to each other.

The vehicle then skidded into cars that were parked near the houses. The Vibe also damaged the gas meter for the house on Greenwood, Nolte said.

The car that hit the houses has not been reported stolen, he said. While police have video of a portion of the incident from a business security camera, Nolte said there’s a lot police still don’t know.

“We really need people’s help on this one,” Nolte said. “This is one of those crimes, you want to make sure we capture who did this.”

Anyone with information about the driver is being asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
