Longtime Kansas criminal sentenced to more than 3 years in prison
A man who has more than 90 criminal convictions and court adjudications to his name has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.
David Osborne, 47, was sentenced last month to 37 months in prison by District Court Judge Kevin O’Connor. Last September, Osborne pleaded guilty to 11 counts of identity theft, forgery, theft and possession of meth, according to a prepared statement released by Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett.
Osborne’s criminal history extends back to 1982, Bennett said, and includes criminal damage to property, aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit forgery. He has convictions for activity in Wichita, Haysville, Great Bend, Newton, El Dorado and Hutchinson.
A Wichita police officer was sent to Casey’s General Store, 3540 S. Meridian, on May 9, 2014. The officer arrived before Osborne had left the store, Bennett said. After checking Osborne’s identity and searching his car, the officer found items related to the manufacture of identities, as well as personal identifiers for many people.
