Lack of marriage proposal leads to hammer attack

She wanted him to propose, but when he wouldn’t she came up with another plan: She grabbed a hammer and whacked him on the knee and then used it to destroy his coffee table.

The mayhem over matrimony unfolded shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of West Second Street, Lt. James Espinoza said. That’s just west of Seneca near the Arkansas River.

The 55-year-old victim told police his 45-year-old ex-girlfriend became angry at him because he wouldn’t propose to her, so she attacked him with the hammer and then bludgeoned his coffee table to pieces. She left the scene before police arrived, according to a police document on the incident.

Police are still looking for her. The man suffered a minor bruise to his knee and declined medical treatment.
