85-year old man robbed while in his home; police look for other victims

Police are looking for more possible victims after a robbery suspect was arrested today after a break-in at an 85-year old man’s home on the 1500 block of N. Fairfield.

At around 2:35 a.m. on Friday morning, the 85-year old victim woke up to the sounds of shattered glass and someone in his house. The man fetched his gun and went to his living room, where he found a man robbing his home and holding a tire iron.

When the robber saw the man had a gun, he told him not to shoot. He then grabbed the gun from the victim and hurt the 85-year old, who suffered minor injuries.

The robber then left with the man’s Audi and was later arrested while driving it. The robber left behind a stolen car at the 85-year-old man’s home.

Police have not yet released the suspect’s identity, but said he is 24 years old and was booked into jail for aggrivated robbery. Wichita police Capt. Doug Nolte said law enforcement think other victims are associated with the 24-year old robber.
