Infant has skull fractures, brain bleeding after being struck by plastic piggy bank
An infant was hospitalized with two skull fractures and bleeding on the brain after she was struck by a piggy bank thrown during a fight between her grandparents, Wichita police said.
A 38-year-old woman confronted her 50-year-old husband Monday night over a suspected affair, Lt. James Espinoza said. The man was lying in bed, holding their two-month-old granddaughter, at their home in the 2100 block of East Lockwood. That’s southeast of Hydraulic and 47th Street South.
She walked over to his side of the bed, took a large plastic piggy bank and threw it at him, Espinoza said. He deflected the piggy bank, which struck the baby in the head.
The child was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. The husband and wife were arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment, records show.
