Police: ‘Too early to tell’ if robberies connected

Two men robbed a south Wichita restaurant Thursday, Wichita police said.

At 9:20 p.m., two men entered Tacos Mexican Fast Food at 1533 S. Seneca, which is near Harry and Seneca, with a handgun, police said. They took a small amount of cash from the register, Lt. James Espinoza said.

Both suspects were described by police as white men in their early 20s. One was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing a black hat, coat, pants and shoes, with a tear-drop tattoo on his right cheek. The other man was described as 5 feet 8, 160 pounds, wearing a black flannel overcoat, red hooded sweatshirt, black pants, shoes and gloves, and multicolored sunglasses.

Two employees of the restaurant, a 17-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, were not injured in the robbery, police said.

Espinoza said it’s “too early to tell” whether this robbery is connected with a string of others earlier Thursday, which also were reported as involving two men and a handgun. The robberies occurred at Judy’s Liquor, near Harry and Edgemoor, at 6:20 p.m.; KC Gas and Grocery, near Maple and Seneca, at around 7 p.m.; and – around the same time – Delano Retail Liquor, also near Maple and Seneca.
