Wichita woman beaten; man arrested on suspicion of domestic violence
A 23-year-old man was arrested by Wichita police after a 24-year-old woman was severely beaten Tuesday morning.
Police said a 47-year-old resident received a knock on his door from a woman asking for help at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. As he stood in the door, a man came and pulled the woman back into her residence in the same block of 600 South Hunter, which is near Kellogg and Woodlawn. The resident called police.
When police arrived, Lt. James Espinoza said, the man who had pulled the woman into her residence refused to let officers in. The officers used force to enter, Espinoza said.
Espinoza said the victim suffered several facial fractures and a broken collarbone. She was transported to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
The suspect was taken to Sedgwick County Jail, where he was arrested on suspicion of criminal restraint, aggravated battery and domestic violence.
