Woman suspected of north Wichita mail thefts

A woman suspected of mail theft from north Wichita mailboxes has been arrested, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

At about 2 a.m. Tuesday, an off-duty sheriff’s detective noticed a car pull up and someone take mail from a mailbox in the Reflection Ridge neighborhood near 29th and Ridge, the office said. An investigation “revealed thefts from that mailbox as well as 17 others in the Reflection Ridge and Forest Lakes neighborhoods,” the office said in a statement.

The 40-year-old woman was found with what appeared to be stolen mail, sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning said.

She has been booked into jail, and detectives are investigating and pursuing charges, the office said.
