UPDATED: Man shot in north Wichita upgraded to serious condition

The condition of a 27-year-old man from Salina who was shot Tuesday morning in north Wichita has been upgraded from serious from critical, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said.

He was taken to the hospital after being shot in the buttocks shortly before 7:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of North Fairview, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. That’s between Broadway and Arkansas.

“There was some type of gathering,” Espinoza said. “Alcohol was involved.”

Police are still investigating.
