Police: Truck hits west-side Wichita building – on purpose
He was so determined to get to the expensive liquor inside the store he slammed his truck into the front of the building Sunday night.
After crashing his GMC into the front of J & J Fine Liquors at 2121 N. Tyler Road at about 7 p.m. Sunday, the man took off with dozens of bottles of liquor worth thousands of dollars, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said.
But he didn’t get far. Officers responding to the alarm found him a short distance away, near 13th and Ridge Road, Espinoza said. Under questioning, the 48-year-old man admitted burglarizing the business.
A police report on the incident indicated 50 bottles of liquor encompassing 15 different types of liquor were stolen. Espinoza said the stolen liquor ranged in price from $50 to $150 a bottle.
