Police: Man knocked out, run over by Mercedes

A man remains hospitalized after being run over several times during a fight on Wednesday, authorities said.

The 29-year-old man was walking with a 27-year-old friend shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday when they came across a 37-year-old man in the 2000 block of East 21st Street, Wichita police Capt. Doug Nolte said. A conversation blossomed into an argument and then into a fight.

The older man knocked the 29-year-old man unconscious, Nolte said, then ran him over “at least three times” with his black Mercedes. The third time the younger man was run over, the suspect nearly struck the 27-year-old woman, police said.

Fearing for her life, she ran off and called 911, Nolte said. The man who was knocked out and run over was transported to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

The woman knows the suspect and police are looking for him, Nolte said.
