‘Intoxicated’ robber arrested after breaking into 3 south Wichita apartments

An “extremely intoxicated” robber broke into three south Wichita apartments, taking items out of two, before being arrested by police early Saturday morning.

Wichita police Sgt. Brian Sigman said police were called to the Village Park at Kingsborough apartment complex in the 2700 block of South Seneca around 5:15 a.m. Saturday.

Residents had reported that the man had broken into one apartment and confronted the resident living there before leaving and heading for another apartment, Sigman said.

The man then broke into a second apartment, confronted that resident, but did not take anything before leaving, Sigman said.

He then broke into a third apartment, where he confronted a family with two children, stole some property and left through a window, Sigman said.

Police arrived on scene and spotted the man, who began running from officers but not fast enough.

He was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of robbery, aggravated burglary, trespassing, theft and obstruction of justice, Sigman said.

No weapons were involved and no one was injured.
