Cheney woman charged with embezzling $186,900 from county electric co-op
A 47-year-old Cheney woman is charged with felony theft and felony computer crime, accused of embezzling more than $186,900 from the Sedgwick County Electric Cooperative, the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
The woman, Jamie Martin, made her first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court on Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The District Attorney’s Office confirmed the charges.
In January, the cooperative “reported an embezzlement to the Sheriff’s Office that was allegedly perpetrated by one of their former employees over the course of several years,” the office said. That prompted an extensive investigation.
