Wichita man charged with involuntary manslaughter in shooting death

Octevious R. Loudermilk was charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter in Sedgwick County District Court in the shooting death last week of a 21-year-old man in southeast Wichita, according to court documents.
Loudermilk, 19, turned himself in to police after Tajay McGee was accidentally shot Thursday night in the 800 block of South San Pablo, authorities said. McGee was found dead in the basement of a duplex with a gunshot wound to his head.
Loudermilk is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 10.
He faces 31 to 136 months in prison if convicted. Depending on prior criminal history, he could also be sentenced to probation.
