A man thought he’d scored some quick cash when he punched a convenience store employee and stole the bank bag he was carrying Monday night, police said.

But the 29-year-old man later discovered the bag contained nothing but a set of keys. When he returned to the Presto store at 2356 S. Seneca shortly after 7 p.m., police officers were on the scene and arrested him, Lt. James Espinoza said.

“There was no money ever in the bag,” Espinoza said.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of robbery and drug possession, Espinoza said.
