Wilbur Middle School employee placed on leave after arrest

A Wilbur Middle School employee has been placed on paid administrative leave after his arrest last week on suspicion of sex crimes.

The 22-year old man was arrested at 1 p.m. Thursday following questioning at the Exploited and Missing Child Unit, records show. He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of electronic solicitation of a child.

The man has been an employee at Wilbur since March 2012, district employee Susan Arensman said. She declined further comment, saying the incident is a personnel matter.

A police document on the case indicates the suspect had electronic conversations “sexual in nature” with the victim. The conversations occurred over a nine-month period that ended in early October, according to the document.
