Meth, cocaine in car bring 11-year sentence for Nevada man

A Nevada man was sentenced Tuesday to more than 11 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing 80 pounds of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute the drug, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said in a news release.

The Kansas Highway Patrol found the drugs in Tomas Serrato-Jaimes’ car after he was stopped on Interstate 70 near Hays on June 20, Grissom said. Investigators also found 11 pounds of cocaine in the car, he said.

Serrato-Jaimes, 31, is a resident of Las Vegas. He will serve 135 months in federal prison on the drug conviction, Grissom said.
