Police arrest suspect in shooting near Valley Center; man in critical condition
Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a reported shooting northwest of Valley Center.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Gerdsen said a man called 911 at 3:51 p.m. on Saturday to report he’d been shot in the 10000 block of West 93rd Street.
That’s northwest of Valley Center, in Sedgwick County.
When deputies arrived, Gerdsen said, they found the man with gunshot wounds to the face and upper chest.
A Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said the man was 48.
Gerdsen said “some kind of argument” preceded the shooting, but deputies are still investigating.
Gerdsen would not say how many shots were fired or what type of gun was used, other than calling it a “long gun, not a handgun.”
The man was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in critical condition, according to the dispatcher.
Gerdsen said police have a suspect in custody in connection with the shooting.
