Police: Two convenience store robberies may be connected

Police think the same two people may be responsible for a pair of convenience store robberies that occurred about a half-hour apart late Wednesday night.

A man and woman entered the Presto in the 1200 block of South Rock Road at about 11:40 p.m. and pointed guns at the 24-year-old clerk, demanding money, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said. They left the store with the money and walked east.

About 35 minutes later, a man and woman walked into the Circle K store at 2001 S. Oliver, Espinoza said. One of them had a gun and they demanded cash and received it.

The suspect descriptions in the two robberies are similar, Espinoza said.

“There’s a possibility they’re connected,” he said.

The male suspect is a black man about 23 years old, a clerk told police. He is about 5-feet-6 with a thin build. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and black shoes. He carried a silver revolver.

The female suspect is a black woman about 20 years old, a clerk told officers. She is about 5-feet-2 and wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and black leggings. She had a handgun in one of the robberies.
