UPDATE: Argument led to shooting near Washington and Mount Vernon
An argument late Wednesday night culminated in gunfire in south Wichita, sending a man to the hospital, police said.
A 29-year-old man was arguing with a 31-year-old acquaintance in the 1000 block of East Clark shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, Lt. James Espinoza said. That’s south of Mount Vernon and just east of Washington.
The argument grew heated before the victim took off running from a group of men. They chased after him and he was shot once in the leg, Espinoza said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and admitted. Police are looking for a Hispanic man who is about 5-feet-5 and has a small build, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said.
Police know the suspect, who has a documented gang history, Espinoza said.
