Police issue dozens of seat-belt tickets
Police wrote dozens of tickets for not wearing a seat belt during a special traffic enforcement effort Thursday night in east Wichita.
Officers made 45 traffic stops and cited 34 drivers and seven passengers for not wearing seat belts, Lt. James Espinoza said. In addition, two drivers ran red lights, three had no driver’s license in their possession and one failed to yield right-of-way on a left turn.
But there was some good news to emerge from the project, Espinoza said: Not one ticket was issued for improper child restraint or no seat-belt use by someone under 18.
