Man sentenced to two years for 6-year-old girl’s death in Wichita collision
A 20-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison for causing a collision that killed a 6-year-old girl in southeast Wichita two years ago.
Raudel Sandoval Jr. pleaded guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the June 26, 2012, death of Feodora Two-Hatchett. The girl was riding in the back seat of her mother’s car as they were traveling north on Edgemoor when they were struck by Sandoval’s car coming west on Mount Vernon.
Feodora died at the scene. Her mother and a sibling were injured in the collision.
Sandoval was driving more than 70 mph in a 35-mph zone in what he said was an effort to dry his vehicle after leaving a car wash.
Judge Steven Ternes handed down the sentence in Sedgwick County District Court.
