12-year-old Wichita girl thwarts home robbery attempt

Wichita police said a 12-year-old girl punched one of two men trying to force their way into her house on Sunday, sending both men fleeing from the residence.

Sgt. Bob Gulliver said police responded to a report of an attempted residential robbery at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday in the area of 1100 W. Harry. That’s near Seneca.

Gulliver said officers talked to a 30-year-old woman at the house, who told them that when her daughter answered the door, a 16-year-old male teen grabbed her and pushed her into the house. He said a 19-year-old man followed the 16-year-oll into the house.

“The 12-year-old punched one of the suspects, and both suspects then fled from the house,” Gulliver said.

He said there were four other children in the house at the time, ages 4 to 15.

Officers searched the area but did not find the two suspects, Gulliver said.
