Police: Girl, 13, arrested following threats to ‘shoot up’ Stucky Middle School
A 13-year-old girl was arrested after she made threats via e-mail and social media to “shoot up” Stucky Middle School on Monday, police said.
The threats were sent a few days ago, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said, and officers tracked down the source of the threats and arrested her early Monday morning.
“In this case it was a prank,” Espinoza said. “We don’t take pranks like that in a joking manner. That’s why the young lady was arrested and booked” into jail.
The girl is a student at Stucky, said Wendy Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Wichita school district. The girl was arrested prior to any students arriving for classes, Johnson said, though two police cars were at Stucky on Monday.
