Woman arrested in downtown Wichita motel fire
A 24-year-old woman was arrested early Monday morning in connection with a fire that extensively damaged a room at a downtown Wichita motel, police said.
The woman was seen “lighting papers” on fire which then spread in the hotel room at the Royal Lodge Motel, 320 E. Kellogg. The incident was reported shortly before 5 a.m.
The resulting fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damage, Lt. James Espinoza said. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of aggravated arson.
Firefighters needed less than 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
