Man hospitalized after crashing motorcycle while being chased by deputy

A man was hospitalized early Friday morning after he crashed a motorcycle while being chased by a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy, authorities said.

The deputy attempted to pull over the 40-year-old man on the motorcycle near Broadway and 47th Street South shortly before midnight Thursday, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. The man refused to stop, however, and a chase began that continued north on I-135.

The motorcycle rider exited the Canal Route at the First/SecondStreet exit and then crashed in a ditch near Central and Chautauqua. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

Information indicates the motorcycle may have been stolen, authorities said.
