A 21-year-old man remains hospitalized after being shot late Tuesday night, police said.

Officers were called to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph after a man walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest shortly before 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. James Espinoza said.

Officers talked to a friend of the victim who said he was pulling up to a house in the 1800 block of South Lulu when he saw his friend “walking out of his home grabbing his chest,” Espinoza said.

The friend immediately took his friend to St. Joseph from the house near Harry and Hydraulic. The victim was in serious condition on Wednesday morning.

“At this time we believe the shooting occurred inside the home” on Lulu, Espinoza said.

Investigators have talked to several people, though they have been “very uncooperative,” he said. “We’re trying to determine how that shot was fired and he was hit.”

A police document about the case indicates a suspect has been identified and authorities are looking for him. No details on the suspect have been released, however.
