Police: Burglary solved just down the street

Police investigating a burglary on Monday didn’t have to go far to find the culprit — just down the block, as a matter of fact.

A 16-year-old girl who returned home in the 4600 block of North Ironwood Circle discovered it had been ransacked, Capt. Doug Nolte said. She called her mother, who came home and discovered several electronic items and other belongings had been taken from the house north of 45th Street between Webb Road and Rock Road.

Officers investigating the incident talked to a neighbor who said she saw a woman who lives nearby parked in the driveway of the burglarized house, Nolte said. The officers went to that woman’s home a few houses down the street to talk to her.

She consented to a search of her house and officers found property stolen from the house down the street, Nolte said. The 34-year-old woman was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
