Shotgun blast kills woman’s cat near Pawnee and Seneca

A woman’s cat was killed by a shotgun blast Monday night, police said.

The 56-year-old woman found her cat in the driveway of her house in the 2100 block of South Osage shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday, Capt. Doug Nolte said. That’s northeast of Pawnee and Seneca in southwest Wichita.

The woman had been having an argument with her neighbor before they both returned to their homes, Nolte said. A short time later, the woman heard “a loud bang” and found her cat when she went back outside, according to a police document.

Officers investigating the incident found a shotgun shell on the neighbor’s porch, but the neighbor denied shooting the animal. No arrests have been made in the case.
