One injured, suspect barricaded after shooting in south Wichita
One person was injured and a number of residents were evacuated following an early-morning shooting in south Wichita on Thursday.
Through a Facebook message posted at about 9 a.m. Thursday, the Wichita Police Department said the shooting happened in the 1500 block of South Pattie, near Harry and Southeast Boulevard.
Police said one person was taken to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Another person was believed to be barricaded inside a home in the area, according to police, which led to the evacuation of a number of residents nearby.
SWAT and crisis negotiators were at the scene late Thursday morning. Several streets in the area were blocked.
Police asked that other residents in the area shelter in place, according to the Facebook post.
