Wichita man pleads guilty after making threat to kill politician
A Wichita man pleaded guilty to charges related to threats made to a Minnesota congresswoman, according to the Department of Justice.
Adam Lee Osborn, 60, pleaded guilty to making the threat through an online social media post, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas said in a news release.
According to the DOJ, Wichita police became aware in January that Osborn had made a threat to kill Rep. Ilhan Omar. In the post, Osborn wrote “I’m going to kill Ilhan Omar!”
He also posted a photo of himself with an AR-15-style rifle, according to the release. After police officers confronted Osborn at his home, he admitted to making the posts, the release said.
Osborn told police that he had no intention of actually hurting anyone, but that he hoped his posts might “provoke someone to handle business,” according to the DOJ. By that, Osborn told officers he meant to “kill them.”
Osborn pleaded guilty to one count of making interstate communications with a threat to injure, a felony.
