One person dead following fire in south Wichita
One person is dead following a fire in south Wichita on Thursday.
The call came in at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday for a location in the 3600 block of East 71st Street, which is southeast of 63rd South and Hydraulic.
Jose Ocadiz, a battalion chief with the Wichita Police Department, said one person was found dead at the scene. The identity of the person and cause of death had not been released as of early Thursday afternoon.
The cause of the fire was unknown as of Thursday. Ocadiz said investigators, including those from the Wichita Police Department, remained at the scene as of early Thursday afternoon.
According to emergency scanner audio, the fire involved a camper.
